If someone is bitten by a snake, every minute counts. Here’s what to do:
- Stay calm: Panic increases heart rate, spreading venom faster.
- Immobilize: Keep the affected area still and below heart level.
- Remove constrictions: Take off tight clothing or jewelry.
- Seek medical help: Get to a hospital ASAP.
What NOT to do
- Don’t suck out venom: It doesn’t work and can cause more harm.
- Don’t use a tourniquet: It can cut off blood flow and cause tissue damage.
- Don’t apply ice: It can cause further damage.
Snake Bite Symptoms
- Pain or swelling: The bite area may be painful or swollen.
- Nausea or vomiting: Some snake venom can cause nausea and vomiting.
- Dizziness or fainting: Severe snake bites can cause dizziness or fainting.
What to Expect at the Hospital

- Monitoring: The patient will be monitored for any complications.
